OUR EXPERTISE
We specialise in six key areas of engineering
Our dedication to precision, sustainability, and client satisfaction sets us apart as your trusted partner in shaping a resilient built environment.
Our Expertise as Structural Engineers
Structural engineering has been at the core of our firm since its inception and is the main focus of our business. We offer the full range of structural services including the design of new buildings, refurbishment and adaption of existing structures, structural surveys, technical reviews and site inspections. We undertake all phases of the design from feasibility through concept, scheme and detailed design, to construction status information for private and public clients, developers and contractors. Through one of our collaborative partners, we are also able to offer a reinforced concrete detailing and bar scheduling service for projects that we have designed.

Our Expertise as Civil Engineers

In support of our core structural engineering service, we are able to offer a range of civil engineering services including the planning, design and implementation of development infrastructure such as highways, flooding, drainage and utilities. We are able to prepare highway designs including negotiating Section 278/38 highway agreements and stopping up agreements, and to prepare flood risk assessments and drainage agreements such as Section 104 agreements. These civil engineering services are normally provided through one of our collaborative partners.

Our Expertise as Geotechnical Engineers
As part of our structural engineering service, we are able to offer a full geotechnical engineering service to assess the ground conditions at the site and to propose appropriate foundation solutions and retaining structures. We can undertake desktop studies, specify, procure and administer intrusive site surveys on behalf of the client, and provide geotechnical interpretative reports based upon the factual investigation report produced by the site investigation contractor. This enables us to determine the geotechnical parameters of the soils underlying the site and therefore to evaluate the most appropriate and cost effective foundation solutions for the proposed buildings. These geotechnical engineering services are normally provided through one of our collaborative partners.

Our Expertise as Rail Interface Engineers
The Partners and senior staff of CRE8 Structures have extensive experience of designing structures in and adjacent to the rail environment and of liaising with the Outside Party technical departments at Network Rail (NWR), Transport for London (TfL) and the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). We understand the constraints and opportunities that designing next to an operational railway creates and we are fully familiar with the technical approval processes that the railway stakeholders require. This enables us to quickly assess the feasibility of constructing near or over a piece of railway infrastructure, to optimise the design of the proposed development to enhance the value for the client whilst still complying with the requirements of the railway and to obtain the necessary technical approvals.

Our Expertise in
Building Information Modelling
Building Information Modelling

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one of the core principles of engineering design at CRE8 Structures. BIM is not only an integral part of how we deliver all of our projects, but it is also a cornerstone of CRE8 Structures’ progressive approach to projects. We have standardised the use of 3D modelling software (Autodesk Revit) on all our projects since the company’s inception.
CRE8 Structures is aligned to the government’s standard of achieving BIM Level 2 underpinned by the BS EN ISO 19650 series of standards. BIM Level 2 requires more than simple inter-discipline collaboration; it necessitates the various disciplines to coordinate fully, to exchange models regularly as part of a coordination cycle and to undertake inter-discipline clash detection. The ultimate aim of the coordination cycle is to develop a coordinated Federated BIM model, thus avoiding costly and time-consuming errors on site and thereby reducing project costs and programme risk.
CRE8 Structures has the relevant BIM knowledge and expertise, to utilise the full potential of our 3D modelling software throughout the various stages of a project and ultimately for the full life cycle of a building. By capturing material specification data in our models, and associating it to the relevant structural components, we provide clients with vital information for building maintenance and future redevelopment in accordance with PAS 1192.
Our Expertise in Refurbishment and
Re-engineering
At CRE8 Structures, we are passionate about providing sustainable solutions which both satisfy the
client’s brief and minimize the whole life carbon footprint of the project. As such, we are advocates
of the RetroFirst approach which champions re-use in the built environment, wherever possible. This
promotes refurbishment, retrofit and re-engineering of existing structures over their demolition and
replacement with new buildings.
At CRE8, we are experienced in providing civil, structural and geotechnical solutions for projects ranging from light refurbishments, such as modernisations, through heavy refurbishments involving major structural alterations, to the complete re-engineering of an existing building to incorporate a fundamental change of use, additional storeys and/or major re-modelling of the structural frame.

Our expertise encompasses the full spectrum of existing buildings from modern shopping centres, commercial and residential towers, with structural steel or reinforced concrete frames, to historic, listed buildings with loadbearing masonry or historic, iron or steel, section frames. We also provide geotechnical expertise on the re-use of existing foundations including, in certain circumstances, a methodology for justifying increased loads on historic foundations.
