The residential structural frame is of reinforced concrete flat slab supported on walls and columns and the foundations are CFA piles. The site slopes leading to a partially below ground, ground floor. Concrete retaining walls retain the earth on the submerged faces.
The residential layouts conform to the Quintain standard ‘Private Rented Sector’ brief for Build to Rent developments and the building was designed and documented in BIM using Revit software. The entire development is serviced by district heating and centralized, vacuum based, waste management system, Envac.
Collaborative working was employed throughout the design and construction process of the Beton building. Regular design workshops were held with the architect, MEP consultant and trade contractors during the design and procurement process. CRE8 are an advocate of this approach and encourage full partcipation by the team to all design workshops. This includes regular BIM meetings which focus on the development and coordination of the federated model. This process was facilitated by sharing Revit models on a weekly basis.
