Leading edge thinking in the pursuit of sustainable and effective solutions.
The scheme was targeted as net zero carbon and as part of that strategy CRE8 focussed on reducing embodied carbon of the new buildings to a minimum. Extensive use was made of Cross Laminated Timber for the floor plates (CLT) and glue-laminated timber elements for the frame structure combined with precast concrete to increase spans and reduce member depth.

Landsec have adopted the proposed frame as a model for future offices. The scheme had wet lab space at the lower floors and basements so a concrete sub structure and podium allowed the correct performance criteria to be achieved in the laboratory areas.
